acorus-gramineus-variegatus-marginal-pond-plant
Acorus gramineus Variegatus Marginal Pond Plant

This variegated acorus suits pond margins and shallow shelves, whether the spot sits in full sun or dappled shade, and gives those damp edges green and white foliage with structure that holds through the season. It keeps clump size easy to manage, so dividing or cutting back happens rarely. Choose a single potted plant for one spot, or a pack of three smaller plants to establish across a wider stretch of margin.

Acorus gramineus variegatus is a compact marginal plant that grows in the same grass-like habit as Acorus gramineus Ogon, but shows green and white variegated leaves rather than Ogon's foliage colouring. That leaf variegation is what sets it apart from the plain green Ogon variety.

It suits pond margins and shallow shelves in full sun or part shade, helping bring colour and texture to the water's edge without demanding regular attention. It also flowers through the summer months, adding seasonal interest once established.

Buy it as a single plant supplied in a 1 litre mesh aquatic basket, ready to go straight into the pond, or as a pack of three smaller plants each in a 9cm pot, suited to planting across a bigger area of margin. The smaller pot plants aren't pre-basketed, so they'll need potting into a mesh basket of your own before you plant them out.

Specification

Detail

Sun/Shade

Full sun to part shade

Flowers

Jun to Sep

Colour

Green

Growth rate

Slow

Care instructions

Little maintenance is required.
