anubias-barteri-var-nana-on-coconut-shell
Anubias barteri var. nana on Coconut Shell

This Anubias barteri var. nana arrives already attached to a coconut shell, so there's no rooting to do before it goes into the tank. It suits tanks with herbivorous fish, since the leaves aren't eaten, and its slow growth helps the display keep a settled look rather than needing frequent reshaping. Reaching only 5-10 cm tall, it fits easily into smaller or nano setups.

Anubias barteri var. nana comes pre-attached to a coconut shell, pairing a slow-growing aquarium plant with a ready-made natural anchor instead of requiring substrate planting. Native to Cameroon, it stays compact, typically reaching 5-10 cm in height, which keeps it suited to foreground and midground spots in smaller tanks. It's rated easy to grow, giving newer aquarium keepers a plant that settles in without demanding much attention.

The rhizome extends to 10-15 cm or more as the plant matures, so it's worth leaving some clear space around the shell when you position it. Growth is slow, and the leaves survive for several years, so an established piece holds its shape without needing constant attention. It also flowers while fully submerged, which not every aquarium plant does.

Because it isn't eaten by herbivorous fish, it holds up well in tanks that house grazing species where other soft-leaved plants might get stripped back. The grower describes the coconut shell itself as a sustainable material, though no further detail on what that involves is given.

What you get is a single Anubias barteri var. nana plant, already mounted on its coconut shell, in the Standard size.

Specification

Detail

Difficulty

Easy

Mounted on

Coconut shell

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/anubias-barteri-var-nana-on-coconut-shell-standard.jpg?v=1792443068
