It was first discovered in southern Brazil, not Australia, despite what the name suggests.

Grown under decent light, it helps add colour variation to a planted tank, with leaves taking on a reddish tint rather than staying plain green throughout. This makes it suited to aquascapers looking to build structure and visual interest between the foreground and background planting in a layout.

You get a pack of five pots, ready to plant. It can be propagated by trimming side shoots from established stems and planting them straight into the substrate, so a single pot can be grown into further stock over time.

It isn't the most demanding plant to keep, but it does best with steady care and consistent light rather than being left entirely unattended.

Specification

Detail

Origin

South America

Difficulty

Medium

Aquarium placement

Midground

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/bacopa-australis-potted-aquarium-plant.jpg?v=1792396886
