baldellia-ranunculoides-marginal-pond-plant
Baldellia ranunculoides Marginal Pond Plant

A low, native marginal plant grown for its clusters of small, pale flowers held above dense lime-green foliage. It keeps upkeep to a minimum once rooted in, which suits anyone wanting a slow-spreading, easy-care addition to the pond edge. Depending on the size and pack chosen, plants arrive either already potted into a mesh aquatic basket or as young plants in a 9cm pot, ready to go in.

Baldellia ranunculoides is a native marginal pond plant that flowers from May through to September, an unusually long run for a margin plant, and keeps maintenance to a minimum once it has settled in. It forms low, dense clumps of lime-green foliage topped with small, pale flowers, spreading gradually rather than taking over the margin.

What you get depends on the option chosen. The 1 litre sizes, whether as a single plant or a pack of three, each come already potted into their own 1 litre mesh aquatic basket, so there's nothing extra to do before placing them in the water. The 9cm pot, pack of three, is supplied as three young plants in 9cm pots rather than baskets, so these will need potting into a mesh basket before they go into the pond.

This is a shallow-water plant by nature. Its recommended planting depth runs from the surface down to just a few centimetres, so it suits gently shelving margins rather than deeper water, and growth stays slow and manageable without regular cutting back.

As a native species, it fits naturalistic and wildlife pond planting schemes. Grower guidance lists it as needing no ongoing care once established, making it a reasonable choice for margins you don't want to be tending constantly through the season.

Specification

Detail

Sun/Shade

Full sun

Flowers

May to September

Colour

White

Growth rate

Slow

Care instructions

No maintenance is required

Native

Native

What's included

1 litre: one plant in a 1 litre mesh aquatic basket. 1 litre, pack of 3: three plants, each in a 1 litre mesh aquatic basket. 9cm pot, pack of 3: three plants, each in a 9cm pot.

Height

5-20 cm

Planting depth

0-5 cm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/baldellia-ranunculoides-marginal-pond-plant.jpg?v=1793173571
