cryptocoryne-usteriana-potted
Cryptocoryne usteriana (Potted)

A tall plant suited to the rear of the aquarium, offering layering and colour contrast with bronze-green leaf tops and burgundy undersides. It copes well with alkaline water, so it keeps growing reliably even in harder-water setups.

Cryptocoryne usteriana is one of the taller cryptocorynes in general cultivation, with established plants reaching more than 50cm in height, which suits it to background planting in larger aquariums. Its care needs stay straightforward and it handles higher-alkalinity water without trouble, so it gives you a workable background option even where water chemistry isn't perfectly soft or neutral.

Under good light and with regular fertilisation, the broad 3-5cm leaves take on a dark green to bronze-green shade on top while the underside turns burgundy red, adding a two-tone look to the back of the tank.

What you get: a pack of five pots of Cryptocoryne usteriana, ready to go into your substrate.

The plant spreads by long runners, so over time a single potted specimen can fill out into a wider background stand. That spreading habit, combined with its height and leaf colour change, is what sets it apart from smaller, flatter cryptocoryne species.

Specification

Detail

Origin

Asia

Difficulty

Easy

Aquarium placement

Background
