cryptocoryne-x-willisii
Cryptocoryne x willisii

This potted Cryptocoryne x willisii suits planted-tank keepers after a straightforward plant for the middle zone of their aquascape, one that fills itself out without much fuss. It helps round out that middle area as it spreads by runners into a dense, compact group over time. You receive a pack of five ready-to-plant pots, with nothing extra to prepare before adding them to your substrate.

Cryptocoryne x willisii is a compact crypt originally collected in Sri Lanka, distinguished by its habit of spreading on its own through runners rather than needing to be propagated by hand. This self-spreading habit helps keep the middle zone of a planted layout naturally full, and suits aquarists who want reliable coverage there without a steep learning curve, since it is considered straightforward to grow.

Growth is slow for roughly the first month after planting, so don't expect much visible change early on. After that it picks up, producing plenty of runners that knit together into a compact clump.

Each rosette typically reaches 7-15cm across, with the whole plant growing to 7-20cm tall, sizing that sits comfortably between foreground carpet plants and taller background species.

You may also see this plant listed under the name Cryptocoryne nevillii; that name was never properly used for aquarium plants, so this listing uses its correct name, Cryptocoryne x willisii. What you get: a pack of five pots of Cryptocoryne x willisii, supplied ready to separate and plant into your own substrate.

Specification

Detail

Origin

Asia

Difficulty

Easy

Aquarium placement

Midground
