Its wavy, light green leaves add movement and colour, and because it tends to keep its larger leaves below the surface rather than breaking through it, you keep a tidier waterline as the rosette fills out. You get a pack of five pots, ready to go into your setup.

Echinodorus cordifolius 'Fluitans' is a plant native to Mexico that grows differently to other round-leaved Echinodorus varieties: instead of pushing leaves up above the waterline, it tends to form its largest leaves just beneath the surface once it's established. That keeps the top of the tank clearer while still giving you a full, mature-looking rosette.

It's a forgiving, low-maintenance plant, which makes it a reasonable option if you're new to planted tanks and want something that doesn't need constant attention. Because its leaves can reach 20 to 50cm long and the rosette spreads 15 to 30cm wide, it's best suited to larger aquariums with enough depth and footprint for it to grow out fully.

You get a pack of five pots, ready to position towards the rear of your tank.

The leaves are wavy and light green, adding a bit more texture and contrast than flatter-leaved varieties.

Specification

Detail

Origin

North America

Difficulty

Easy

Aquarium placement

Background

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/echinodorus-cordifolius-fluitans-potted-aquarium-plant.jpg?v=1792399572
