evolution-aqua-cetus-sieve
Evolution Aqua Cetus Sieve

This bow screen sieve pulls large debris and mechanical waste out of your pond water before it reaches your main filter, so you spend less time cleaning it out. It adjusts itself to match your pump's flow rate and pond level, working whether you set it up gravity-fed or pump-fed. Pair it with a surface skimmer and it also works on its own, clearing leaves and floating debris straight out of the water.

Overview

The Cetus Sieve is a self-adjusting bow screen pre-filter that uses a patented Pondflow system to vary its own inlet height, something a plain bow screen can't do. Fitted ahead of your main filter, it strips out large debris and mechanical waste before that water reaches your biological media, which helps keep the water clearer and cuts down on how often you need to clean it out. It can be plumbed in gravity-fed or pump-fed, and it's built to pair naturally with the Evolution Aqua Nexus filter range, though it works with any filtration system you already have.

**Key benefits**

Self-adjusting weir and Pondflow inlet height keep it working as your pond level or pump output changes

Removes large mechanical waste ahead of your primary filter, extending the gap between cleans

Cuts the organic load reaching your biological filter, which would otherwise consume oxygen and leach ammonia into the water

Works with either a gravity feed or a pump feed, so it fits into most existing pond plumbing

Doubles as a standalone leaf and debris catcher when used with a surface skimmer

Recommended ahead of pressurised filters to reduce backwashing and maintenance

Installing the Cetus Sieve

Run it gravity-fed and water arrives from a skimmer or bottom drain, with the weir adjusting itself to your pump's flow rate and the Pondflow system compensating as the pond level drops, so your pump doesn't run dry. The cleaned water is then pumped up to a filter sitting above pond level, such as a Nexus Eazy or Eazy Pod, or through to a pressurised filter. Set it up pump-fed instead and the sieve sits above the pond, with water pumped up into it and the outflow dropping by gravity into your main filter. Either way, it's worth putting a Cetus ahead of a pressurised filter, since it takes the heavy solids out before they reach the media and cuts down on backwashing.

**Using it as a standalone unit** You don't need a full filter system to get value from the Cetus. Paired with a surface skimmer, it works on its own to pull leaves and other floating debris out of the pond, which suits a set-up where a simple skimming stage is all you need before the water goes back in.

Specification

Detail

Maximum flow rate

18,000 litres/hr (4,000 UK gallons/hr / 4,755 US gallons/hr)

Inlet size (gravity-fed)

110mm / 4"

Inlet size (pump-fed)

50mm / 1½"

Outlet size (gravity-fed)

1½"

Outlet size (pump-fed)

3"
