evolution-aqua-k1-filter-media
Evolution Aqua K1 Filter Media

This loose filter media gives pond bacteria plenty of surface to colonise, so a single product supports both the mechanical and biological sides of your filtration, whether your system runs as a static bed or a moving bed. It's available in 25 or 50 litre packs, and it's the media Evolution Aqua built its Nexus koi filters around.

Overview

Evolution Aqua's K1 Filter Media is the loose, moving bed media the brand introduced with its Nexus koi filters, bringing that style of filtration to the koi market for the first time. It gives the bacteria in your filter a large surface to colonise, so the same media handles mechanical filtration (trapping debris) and biological filtration (breaking down waste) rather than needing separate products for each job. It works whether your filter runs it as a static bed or keeps it in motion.

Key benefits

Gives filter bacteria a large surface area to colonise, supporting the biological breakdown of waste

Handles mechanical and biological filtration in the same media

Suits filters run as a static bed or with the media in motion

Available in 25 litre and 50 litre packs so you can match quantity to your filter's capacity

The same media powers Evolution Aqua's Nexus system

Choosing your size

Both pack sizes hold the same K1 media, just in different amounts: 25 litres or 50 litres. The choice comes down to how much your filter chamber needs to hold. The product data here doesn't give a fill ratio against pond or filter volume, so check your filter's own instructions, or measure the chamber, before deciding which pack (or how many) to order.

Using it in your filter

Loading it into your filter is straightforward: place the media in a chamber designed for static or moving bed use, such as a Nexus filter. As water passes through, bacteria establish themselves on the surface of the media and get to work on dissolved waste, while the media also traps solid debris mechanically.

Specification

Detail

Brand

Evolution Aqua

Protected Surface Area

500m² per m³

Filtration Type

Mechanical and biological

Compatible Filter Systems

Static bed and moving bed

Available Pack Sizes

25 litres, 50 litres
