It helps soften bare pond margins with low, naturalistic planting and adds small yellow flowers for extra colour at the water's edge. Each pack gives you a ready set of plants to establish a group planting along one stretch of margin.

Hypericum elodes is a UK native marginal plant for pond and stream edges, known for its hairy, grey-green foliage that gives the whole plant a glaucous, silvery-toned appearance. It suits the margins of ponds and streams, where its naturalistic habit helps fill out planting at the water's edge without looking too formal. You receive three plants, each supplied in a 9cm pot; a mesh planting basket isn't included, so you'll need to buy one separately to plant them into the pond. For the best start, set the basket shallower than the full recommended planting depth at first, then lower it once the roots have taken hold.

Specification

Detail

Sun/Shade

Full sun to part shade

Flowers

May & Jun

Colour

Yellow

Growth rate

Slow

Care instructions

Little maintenance is required.
