It suits aquascapers who want a background plant that copes well with different water conditions, helping keep the overall setup straightforward to maintain.

You get a pack of five pots of Limnophila hippuridoides, supplied ready to plant into your aquarium substrate.

The leaves are green with a red-violet underside, and under strong growing conditions the whole leaf can turn red-violet, adding colour contrast at the back of the tank. It also grows vigorously, sending up new, solid shoots from the base as it matures.

Because growth is vigorous, thinning out the oldest and longest stems is worthwhile as the plant develops; replanted cuttings will root again and grow into new plants. Note that damaged stems or leaves release a noticeable scent, which is a natural trait of this species rather than a cause for concern.

Specification

Detail

Width

6-10 cm

Format

Potted

Height

20-50 cm

Origin

Asia

Difficulty

Easy

Aquarium placement

Background

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/limnophila-hippuridoides-potted-aquarium-plant.jpg?v=1792400721
