It helps you add natural height and texture to your hardscape straight away, without the job of tying a bare plant on yourself.

This is a Microsorum pteropus fern supplied already fixed to its lava stone base, so it gives your aquascape instant height and texture without a lengthy attachment period. Native to Asia, it grows to around 15-30cm tall and is well suited to freshwater aquariums kept by both beginners and experienced keepers.

What you get: one Microsorum pteropus fern already secured to its stone base, ready to go straight into the tank. If you later want to move it onto a different root or rock, tie it on with fishing line and leave it in place until new roots take hold.

If you prefer to plant it into the substrate instead, keep the horizontal rhizome above the gravel rather than burying it, since covering it causes it to rot. The same rhizome can be split to propagate new plants, and the fern is described as hardy, adapting to a wide range of aquarium conditions.

As the plant matures, small black spots may appear on the underside of the leaves. These are described as sporangia, the fern's natural reproductive structures, rather than a sign of disease.

Specification

Detail

Difficulty

Easy

Mounted on

Lava stone

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/microsorum-pteropus-on-lava-stone-standard.jpg?v=1792403135
