It suits keepers who already have some experience with demanding stem plants, since it needs steady conditions to thrive.

Proserpinaca palustris 'Cuba' is a stem plant whose foliage changes dramatically after planting: it starts with jagged, saw-edged leaves and grows into long, slender, finely serrated leaves with an almost needle-like look, turning a striking copper colour under good lighting.

It suits aquascapers who want a genuine colour accent at the rear of the tank. Under strong, consistent lighting it offers real contrast against the greens and reds of other planting, though it needs stable conditions to perform this way, so it suits keepers who already have experience growing demanding stem plants.

You receive a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups. Each is a tissue-cultured portion of the plant grown in a closed pot, ready to be separated and planted into your substrate.

Proserpinaca palustris varies in form depending on where it grows in the wild. This cultivar is collected from the Isla de la Juventud off Cuba, which is where its name comes from, and in the United States the species is commonly called mermaid weed.

Specification

Detail

Format

1-2-Grow!: aquarium plant grown from tissue culture in a closed cup.

Origin

South America

Difficulty

Advanced

Aquarium placement

Background

AquaticsHub
1-2-Grow!
