It helps oxygenate the pond and settles into both still and flowing water, which suits a range of pond and stream setups. Expect flowers through summer once it's established, with foliage that sits both above and below the surface.

Ranunculus aquatilis is a UK native oxygenating pond plant whose leaves grow in three distinct forms, two shaped for life above the waterline and one that stays submerged. That mix of growth habits lets it adapt to the conditions in your pond or stream, rather than needing one fixed water depth or flow rate.

It suits ponds and water features with either calm or fast-moving water, from garden ponds to more naturalistic stream setups. The plant helps oxygenate the water as it grows, and its native status makes it a reasonable pick for wildlife-focused planting.

You get a pack of five bunches. They can be weighted and dropped straight into the water, though they tend to do better when planted in soil rather than left loose. If you go down the planting route, you'll need your own soil or substrate, as none is supplied with the pack.

In fast-flowing water, anchor the bunches well, since the current often keeps the leaves below the surface. In still or slower water, the leaves tend to rise above the surface, and that's generally when the plant flowers through the summer months.

Specification

Detail

Sun/Shade

Full sun to part shade

Flowers

June to September

Colour

White

Growth rate

Medium

What's included

Pack of 5 (5 bunches)

Height

0-5 cm

Planting depth

0-100 cm

Native

Native

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/ranunculus-aquatilis-native-pond-oxygenating-plant-pack-of-5-bunches.jpg?v=1793173526
https://aquaticshub.co.uk/products/ranunculus-aquatilis-native-pond-oxygenating-plant-pack-of-5-bunches
