stachys-palustris-marginal-pond-plant
Stachys palustris Marginal Pond Plant

A flowering marginal plant suited to medium or large ponds, supplied as a single potted plant or as a pack of three. It settles into the pond margin quickly and gives months of summer colour that draws bees to the water's edge.

Stachys palustris is a native UK marginal pond plant grown for its upright spikes of summer flowers, which attract bees, making it suited to the margins of medium or large ponds. It provides an extended period of colour across the pond shelf rather than a brief one, and its fast growth rate helps it settle in once planted. It also grows well in full sun or part shade, so it isn't restricted to the sunniest spot on the pond. What you get depends on the size chosen: the 1 litre option is one plant already potted in a 1 litre mesh aquatic basket, the 3 litre option is one plant in its own 3 litre mesh basket, and the pack of three gives you three individual plants, each grown in a 9cm pot. As a native marginal with a fast growth habit, it's a straightforward choice for adding wildlife interest to a larger pond's planting scheme.

Specification

Detail

Colour

Pink

Height

60-120 cm

Native

Native

Flowers

Jun to Sep

Sun/Shade

Full sun to part shade

Growth rate

Fast

Planting depth

0-15 cm

What's included

1 litre: one plant in a 1 litre mesh aquatic basket; 3 litre: one plant in a 3 litre mesh aquatic basket; 9cm pot, pack of 3: three plants each in a 9cm pot.

Care instructions

Trim to tidy as required throughout the season.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0922/0610/4949/files/stachys-palustris-marginal-pond-plant.jpg?v=1791795613
