Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' suits aquascapers who want a low-maintenance plant for driftwood or rock rather than substrate planting. Its slow growth and natural branching help you keep a dense, tidy look without constant trimming. You get the plant either as a pack of five pots or as a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups.
Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' is a compact rhizome plant that attaches to wood or rock instead of being rooted in substrate, grown and cared for in much the same way as Anubias.
It suits tanks where you want a low-light foreground or midground feature that keeps a tidy, dense look with minimal upkeep. Because it grows slowly and branches on its own, it helps maintain that coverage without needing regular trims.
You get the plant in your choice of two supply formats: a pack of five 5 cm pots with the plant already growing in them, or a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups of tissue-cultured plant material.
The leaves are small, around 2 cm wide and 5 cm long with wavy edges, which suits detailed hardscape work where larger-leaved plants would overwhelm the layout. In nature it grows on rocks and wood in rivers and streams, which is why it's suited to being tied or glued onto hardscape rather than buried.
When attaching it, leave the rhizome, the creeping stem, fully exposed. Covering it when planting will cause it to rot and the plant to die, so secure it by the roots and keep the stem clear.
