Habitat & Behaviour:
Bettas thrive in warm, stable aquariums with gentle filtration and minimal water flow. The Dumbo Halfmoon variety has large fins that benefit from calm water, plenty of resting spots and dense planting.
Compatibility:
Highly territorial and best kept alone. Suitable tank mates are limited to peaceful invertebrates such as snails, and sometimes shrimp (with caution). Avoid fin-nipping fish and avoid housing with other male bettas.
Feeding:
A high-protein diet is ideal. Offer quality betta pellets as a staple, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp and daphnia in moderation.
Care Tips:
- Keep temperature stable (25–28°C) and avoid sudden swings
- Use gentle filtration and low flow to protect long fins
- Provide plants and resting areas near the surface
- Maintain excellent water quality with regular partial water changes
- Do not keep with aggressive or fin-nipping species
