Frequently Asked Questions

Will this plant grow in a low-light aquarium?

It does well even in poorly lit aquariums, because it grows towards whatever light reaches it rather than needing strong illumination from directly above.

What's the difference between the potted and XL mother plant options?

The potted option is a pack of five pots of smaller, younger plants that will grow on in your tank, while the XL mother plant has already been grown on in a larger pot, giving a bigger, more established plant from the start.

How tall does it grow and where should I place it?

It can reach 20 to 50 cm tall, which is why it works best towards the background of the aquarium rather than the foreground.

A hardy background plant from South America that suits both first planted tanks and larger, more established setups. It grows towards whatever light reaches it, which helps it establish even in dimmer aquariums, and only needs occasional trimming to stop it shading smaller plants below. Available as a pack of five pots of young plants or as a single, larger XL mother plant for a more immediate look.

Echinodorus grisebachii 'Bleherae' is a background aquarium plant that grows towards whatever light reaches it, which helps it establish even in aquariums with lower lighting than many alternative species need. It originates from South America and is rated easy to keep, suiting both first-time planted tank owners and more experienced keepers running larger aquariums.

Grown in a nutrient-rich substrate, it develops into a tall, solitary feature plant rather than a carpeting species. Because it grows wide and tall, it needs regular pruning to stop its leaves shading out smaller plants positioned beneath it.

This plant has also been sold under the name 'Paniculatus', so if you have seen that name elsewhere, it refers to the same plant.

What you get: either a pack of five pots of young plants or one XL mother plant grown on in a larger pot, depending on the option you choose. The XL mother plant gives a bigger, more established specimen from the outset.
