This compact red-leaved sword plant gives your aquascape a vivid focal point without outgrowing smaller tanks. You get a pack of five ready-to-plant pots; the variety suits use as a standalone centrepiece in a small aquarium or a background accent in a larger one. Good lighting deepens the leaf colour, rewarding attentive care with richer red tones.
Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' is a hybrid sword plant, most likely a cross between Echinodorus horemanni 'Red' and Echinodorus 'Barthii', first raised as a culture in Ukraine. Unlike many other Echinodorus species, it stays moderate in size, which gives you a striking red-leaved plant that still works as a solo feature in a small aquarium.
The sword-shaped leaves run 15-25cm long in a deep ruby-red, with the rosette spreading 20-30cm wide at maturity. Strong, favourable lighting is what brings out the richest red colouring; under weaker light the leaves tend towards green.
This makes it flexible for aquascaping: use it as a standalone centrepiece in a smaller tank, or position it further back as a background plant in a larger layout.
You get a pack of five pots of Echinodorus 'Red Diamond', ready to remove from their pots and plant into your substrate. Growing notes indicate that nutrient-rich substrate encourages more abundant growth over time.
