This dwarf carpeting plant gives you one of the smallest groundcover options for a nano aquarium, forming a low, dense carpet with very little upkeep once it settles in. It's suited to planting along the front of the layout and arrives as a pack of three 1-2-Grow! tissue-culture cups, ready to divide and plant.
Eleocharis pusilla 'Mini' is a dwarf hairgrass cultivar that grows even shorter than the more common Eleocharis parvula, making it one of the smallest true carpeting plants used in aquariums. It suits nano tanks and small aquascapes where a tight, low lawn is wanted at the front of the layout.
Leaves stay short, typically 3 to 5cm, so once the carpet fills in there is very little trimming to do. Good light helps it grow at its best, and it is considered one of the more reliable carpeting species for building an even, dense lawn across the substrate.
You receive a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cultures: tissue-cultured portions supplied in sealed cups rather than as potted plants. Split each culture into several small clumps and plant these across the foreground area; left to spread, they knit together into a full carpet over time.
As a cultivar rather than a wild-collected variety, it has been selected specifically for this tighter, lower growth habit, which is what sets it apart from standard Eleocharis parvula.
