The EazyPod Automatic UV takes the daily upkeep of pond care off your hands, combining mechanical settlement, static biological filtration and an 18-watt UV clarifier in one self-cleaning unit. Every few days it backwashes itself automatically, so you spend far less time hosing down filter media by hand. It runs from your own circulating pump, and comes in grey or green to suit your setup.
Overview
The EazyPod Automatic UV is a self-cleaning pond filter that combines mechanical settlement, static K1 Micro biological media and a built-in UV clarifier in one unit, helping to keep pond water clear without you needing to clean the media by hand. An integrated air pump inside the control box agitates the media on a timer, and the waste it dislodges is flushed out automatically, so routine maintenance drops right down. It's built for ponds stocked with ornamental fish, and runs from your existing circulating pump rather than one supplied with the unit.
How it works
Water enters the filter and, on this UV model, passes over an 18-watt clarifying bulb that targets the free-floating algae responsible for green water. From there it moves into the outer chamber, which wraps around the whole unit. A perforated stainless steel screen separates the outer chamber from the inner one, with the holes set low down and around its face; this sets up a flow pattern that lets gravity pull the larger solids down to settle in the base of the outer chamber before the water ever reaches the media. The screen's perforations are sized to stop coarser debris getting through, so it works as a first mechanical stage on its own. Once past the screen, water passes through the static bed of K1 Micro media in the inner chamber, where finer particles get caught and beneficial bacteria colonise the surface area for biological treatment. The clean water then rises into the return pipe and flows back to the pond.
**Cleaning cycle** Rather than pulling the media out to rinse it, the EazyPod Automatic cleans itself in place. An air pump built into the control box feeds an air ring at the base of the inner chamber, and the bubbles agitate the K1 Micro to knock loose the waste trapped in it. That waste is then flushed out through a motorised ball valve, so the installation site needs somewhere for that discharge to drain away to. A built-in timer controls the whole cycle, factory-set to run once every three days, and you can adjust the interval to match how heavily stocked or planted your pond is.
**Installation** This is a pump-fed filter only: your circulating pump pushes pond water up to the EazyPod, and the cleaned water then returns to the pond under gravity, typically down a waterfall or through a large-bore pipe. The pump itself isn't included, so check its flow rate and fittings against what the filter needs before you order.
