Add a polishing stage to your pond filtration and keep cleaning quick, because the filter draws in air as it empties and agitates its own media. The Evolution Aqua Tempest Filter gives extra mechanical and biological filtration alongside any existing filter, or works on its own on a quarantine system or smaller pond. Its K+Media is moulded with minerals for faster maturation.
Overview
The Evolution Aqua Tempest Filter is a pond polisher that cleans its own media with a patent-pending air syphon: as the filter empties, air is drawn in and agitates the K+Media, which keeps routine cleaning quick and simple. Fitted after your main filter, it gives the pond additional mechanical and biological filtration, which helps the water stay clear and healthy.
The K+Media is moulded with minerals for faster maturation times. Evolution Aqua's filter media has been independently tested by Cranfield University and by IFTS, a laboratory that is ISO 17025 accredited. On a single pass at the optimum flow rate, that testing showed removal of all particles down to 25 microns, and the media can filter particles down to one micron.
**Key benefits**
- Adds mechanical and biological filtration to whatever filtration you already run
- Air syphon cleaning agitates the K+Media as the filter empties
- Mineral-moulded K+Media for faster maturation
- Independently tested filter media
- Fits gravity-fed, pressurised, skimmer line, quarantine and standalone set-ups
- Can be linked in a modular installation on larger systems
**Who it suits**
- Keepers with a primary filter who want a polishing stage after it, including after a UV clarifier
- Anyone setting up a quarantine system
- Owners of smaller ponds who want a standalone filter, within the pond size given in the specifications
Above that pond size, use it alongside your existing filtration rather than on its own. On larger systems that need more flow, several Tempest Filters can be installed together as a modular set-up.
Fitting it to your system
The slide valves connect to pressure pipe of the inlet and outlet size shown in the specifications. If you are using flexible hose, a reducing sleeve and a solvent weld stepped hosetail need to be fitted inside each slide valve.
- Gravity-fed set-ups: install it after a primary filter such as the Nexus+, and after a UV clarifier such as the evoUV. The return can go back to the centre of the Nexus+ or into the pond.
- Pressurised systems: it can be installed with a K1 Micro Bead, Nexus+ or EazyPod, with the returns from the Tempest and the K1 Micro Bead going back to the pond.
- Standalone and quarantine use: it can sit at the side of the pond or above it.
- Skimmer line: it can be installed on a skimmer line.
- Modular installs: each filter must be able to be isolated with its slide valves so it can be cleaned independently. Separate return lines let you watch the flow through each filter and balance them.
For the filter to perform as intended, keep the flow through it at or below the optimum rate. A by-pass lets you increase the flow through the pond while the Tempest stays at its optimum, and ball valves on the pipework help you regulate it.
