Hygrophila costata is a South American stem plant whose underwater leaves grow narrower and closer together than the rounder, more widely spaced leaves on the potted plants you receive, since shop stock is raised above water. It's suited to the back of the aquarium, where its height gives structure and depth behind shorter foreground planting. It suits keepers who have grown stem plants before, rather than complete beginners.
Left to grow, stems reach 25 to 60 cm long, with individual leaves extending up to around 10 cm, so it fills a decent amount of background space over time.
This species was previously known as Hygrophila corymbosa 'Angustifolia', so you may still see it listed under that older name in some reference guides.
