This slender-leaved form of Java fern suits both newcomers and experienced aquascapers, keeping the same hardy, low-maintenance character as other Microsorum species but in a more compact, refined shape. It helps bring structure to the middle layers of a planted tank and adapts to both small and large setups. You receive a pack of five pots, with the plants ready to attach to stones or driftwood, or to plant without burying their stalks.
Microsorum pteropus 'Trident' is a slim-leaved cultivar of Java fern named for the tripartite, trident-like shape its fronds often take, though individual leaves can range from simple to multi-lobed. It is a smaller, narrower-leaved form of Microsorum than standard Java fern, which gives it a tidier silhouette where that matters in a layout.
Like other Microsorum, it is considered an easy, hardy plant and suits both first-time keepers and experienced aquascapers. It helps add structure to the middle layers of a planted aquarium and works in tanks of varying sizes, from compact nano setups to larger show tanks.
You get a pack of five pots. The plant doesn't need to be buried in substrate: it can instead be tied or wedged onto stones or pieces of driftwood, or planted directly as long as the horizontal stalk stays uncovered.
New plantlets often form at the leaf tips. Once established, they can be gently separated and planted as new specimens, letting you propagate more plants from a single plant over time.
