A full sun water lily suited to larger ponds, bred for its unusually large, globe-shaped blooms. The deep pink flowers darken further as they age, giving the pond surface a shifting range of colour rather than one static shade. Supplied as an established 3 litre plant with prolific green foliage, ready to go straight into the water.
Nymphaea Mrs Richmond is a hardy water lily distinguished by its unusually large, globe-shaped flowers, a trait that marks it out from more modestly sized varieties. The blooms open a deep pink and continue to darken as they age, set against prolific green foliage that spreads across the water's surface.
Flowering continues right through summer, giving a long season of colour on the pond. It grows vigorously and needs an open, sunny spot to perform well, so it suits ponds with room for a plant that spreads further than a compact lily.
Plant it in still water, away from splashing fountains or moving jets, and lower it gradually so the leaves have a few days to reach the surface. Removing dead leaves and spent flowers through the growing season keeps the plant looking tidy.
It's supplied as an established plant in a 3 litre pot. At this size it doesn't need repotting straightaway, though it will grow on well if moved into a larger basket as it establishes.
