A water lily for ponds with still water and full sun, with blooms that open apricot-yellow and mature to orange-pink above maroon-spotted foliage. It provides colour from June through to September. Supplied as one plant in its own mesh aquatic basket, in a 3 litre or 10 litre size, ready to lower straight into the pond.
Nymphaea Paul Hariot is a water lily whose flowers change colour as they develop, opening apricot-yellow and deepening to orange-pink, with foliage marked by maroon spots rather than plain green. This changing display and patterned foliage is what sets it apart from a single-colour lily. It flowers from June to September, giving a pond colour across most of the summer growing season.
It is suited to ponds with still water and full sun. Keep it away from fountains or other moving water, since splashing disrupts the flat, undisturbed surface the plant needs to grow well.
Growth is medium paced, and an established plant spreads to 70-90cm, so it will fill a reasonable area of open water without needing constant cutting back. Plant at a depth of 30-80cm and lower the basket in gradually, over a few days, so the leaves can reach the surface comfortably.
You get one plant, supplied already potted in its mesh aquatic basket. Choose a 3 litre or 10 litre basket size: neither needs repotting and there's no need to remove the plant from its basket before placing it in the pond, though the 3 litre size can be moved into a larger basket later if you want to give the roots more room.
