Overview

The Oase FiltoClear OC Set is a pressure filter with a built-in UVC clarifier, sold complete with its own matched pump. Where most filters have to sit above ground so you can lift the lid to clean them, this one keeps every control on the cover, which allows the whole unit to be buried at ground level and still reached for maintenance. Pond water passing through the large filter surface has its waste broken down, while the UVC stage targets pathogens and free-floating algae, reducing the cloudiness they cause.

Choosing your size

Four set sizes are available, named after the pond volume each is built to support, running up to the largest model that covers ponds of 31,000 litres. Exact flow rate and UVC lamp figures for the smallest model are set out in the specification table below. For the other three sizes, those figures aren't broken out separately in the data available here, so check them against your own pond and pump before ordering.

Installation and cleaning

Because the operating elements are all housed in the cover, the filter can be sunk into the ground so it sits flush with the surrounding beds rather than standing above the pond edge. Cleaning the filter sponges is done from outside the unit, without opening the lid. A two-way valve lets you route the dirty water away from the pond, for example onto a flower bed, rather than back into it. When the UV lamp eventually needs changing, the UV housing lifts out on its own, so you're not disturbing the rest of the installation to reach it.
