Cut back the dead foliage once it dies down in autumn to keep the clump tidy for next year.
Suited to pond margins and bog gardens, this candelabra primula gives upright orange flower spikes that lift colour at the water's edge through early summer. You get three plants, each supplied in a 9cm pot, with the RHS Award of Garden Merit behind it as a mark of reliable garden performance.
Primula bulleyana is a candelabra-type primula that holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a recognised mark of reliable garden performance. Its flower spikes rise clear of the foliage rather than sitting low, and this gives height and presence to planting around the water's edge.
It tolerates light levels from full sun through to shadier spots, so it fits a range of positions around a pond or in a bog garden. The upright orange flowers help lift the display through early summer.
You get three plants, each delivered in its own pot, enough to start a small group in one go. Growth is unhurried rather than fast-spreading, which keeps it well-mannered in naturalistic bog garden and pond-margin planting.
Once established, light autumn tidying keeps the clump looking neat for the next season.
