Frequently Asked Questions

Is this plant suitable for beginners?

It's rated for more experienced growers. It needs strong light, CO2 injection and soft water to develop well and colour up, so it suits aquarists who already run those conditions rather than someone new to planted tanks.

What do I receive when I order this plant?

A pack of three cups of Rotala macrandra, supplied in 1-2-Grow! format.

Where should I plant it in my aquarium?

It's intended for the midground area of the tank.

How do I maintain it once it's growing?

Cut the longest stems back to 5-10cm from the base and replant them in the same group to keep the planting dense and encourage fresh red growth.

Where does this plant originate from?

Asia.

This Rotala macrandra arrives in 1-2-Grow! format and gives planted aquariums a vivid red accent once you've got strong light, CO2 injection and soft water in place. It suits aquarists with some planted-tank experience rather than complete beginners.

Rotala macrandra is a red-leaved stem plant for freshwater aquariums, and this form is easier to establish than the most demanding version of the species while still developing strong colour.

Given strong light, CO2 injection and soft water, it gives a planted tank a vivid red accent among the rest of the planting, so it suits aquarists who already run those conditions rather than someone starting their first planted layout.

You receive a pack of three cups of Rotala macrandra supplied in 1-2-Grow! format, ready to separate out and plant into a group.

CO2 equipment and the softer water it needs aren't supplied with the plant, so check your setup already provides both before adding it.

Once established, cut the longest stems back to 5-10cm from the base and replant them within the same group. This keeps the planting dense and is part of what makes this form more manageable than other demanding red Rotala types.
