Sagittaria subulata spreads by short runners that knit into tight, grass-like clumps, giving a planted aquarium dense ground cover across the front-to-mid area. It suits plant keepers at any experience level, from a first planted tank to an established layout that needs filling in, and is available as a pack of five pots or as a pack of three 1-2-Grow! tissue-cultured cups.
Sagittaria subulata grows from short runners that knit together into tight, grass-like clumps, rather than spreading as loose single stems. It suits anyone building the front-to-mid area of a planted aquarium, whether that's a first attempt at live plants or an established layout that needs filling in. Grown in groups spaced 2 to 4 cm apart, it helps carpet that part of the tank with dense, upright foliage.
Growth height isn't entirely predictable. Under certain tank conditions, mature plants can reach up to 50 cm, and if that happens, moving them toward the back of the layout often brings the growth back down to a lower, more compact form.
In the aquarium, it sometimes sends up a long flower stem that reaches the surface, where small white flowers open just above the waterline.
The plant is supplied in one of two formats. The Potted option is supplied as a pack of five pots; pot size and the number of plants in each pot aren't given, so it's worth checking this if an exact plant count matters for your planting plan. The 1-2-Grow! option is supplied as a pack of three sealed cups of plant material grown from tissue culture, a smaller and more contained starting point than a loose potted plant.
