Staurogyne repens suits anyone building a low, dense carpet along the front of a planted aquarium. It helps you maintain an even ground cover without constant trimming, since the plant spreads via horizontal shoots rather than growing tall. You get a pack of five pots or a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups, so you can pick the pack that suits your planting plan.
Staurogyne repens is a compact, bushy plant for the front of the aquarium, and unlike its closest aquarium relative Hygrophila, it stays low and spreads sideways rather than growing tall. That habit helps you build a dense, even layer along the front of the tank instead of a scatter of upright stems.
It comes from the Rio Cristalino in the southern Amazon, growing to just 5 to 10 cm with small green leaves, each stem spanning around 3.4 cm across. Under good light it stays compact and throws out plenty of side shoots; under weaker light it grows taller and produces fewer of them.
After planting, trim back the longest upright shoots. New horizontal shoots will grow from the base and gradually spread across the substrate, filling in the space at the front of the tank over time.
What you get: Staurogyne repens supplied either as a pack of five pots or as a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups.
