A South-East Asian moss that attaches to stone, wood and other décor instead of needing to be planted, giving you an easy way to soften hardscape or hide equipment. It's described as hardy and undemanding on water chemistry and lighting, which helps keep its care straightforward. It also gives fry a place to hide in breeding tanks, and comes as either a pack of three 1-2-Grow! tissue-culture cups or a single loose Portion.
Taxiphyllum barbieri 'Bogor Moss' is a South-East Asian moss that fixes itself to rock, wood and other décor rather than needing to be rooted in substrate. That makes it suited to aquarists who want to dress hardscape or hide equipment such as filter pipes and heaters without complicated planting. It's described as hardy and undemanding on water chemistry and lighting, which helps it settle into tanks with average conditions.
Left alone, it forms a dense mat between 3 and 10 cm thick, clinging to almost any surface you press it against. That adaptability sets it apart from mosses that need a specific substrate or strict parameters to establish. In breeding aquariums, it also gives young fish somewhere to hide from adult tankmates.
You get either a pack of three 1-2-Grow! cups, each containing moss grown from tissue culture in a closed container, or one Portion of established moss, depending on which format you choose. Fishing line or cotton thread for tying the moss onto your chosen surface isn't included, so have some ready before you start.
Once it has taken hold, you can remove the thread. If growth becomes denser than you'd like, trim it back with scissors to keep its shape.
