Continuous filtration keeps your pond water clear and reduces the toxins that build up between cleans, while the built-in UV-C lamp breaks down green floating algae so clarity holds for longer. A six-position valve lets you backwash, drain the pond or dose medication without lifting the housing apart, and the pressure-rated build means the water can still gravity-feed a waterfall or stream once it leaves the filter. Two capacities are available, so check the sizing guidance to match one to your pond volume.
Overview
The Clear Control is a pressure filter built around a six-position valve, so backwashing, draining the pond or dosing the water with medication can all be done without opening the housing or disturbing the filter media inside. A UV-C lamp deals with green floating algae and germs before the water reaches the filter bed, and layered media inside handles coarse dirt, fine particles and biological breakdown of waste in one pass. Running it continuously helps keep the water clear and reduces the build-up of toxins that affect fish health. Because the housing is pressure-rated, you can also site the filter above pond level and still let gravity carry the water on to a fountain, waterfall or stream.
Key benefits
- The valve's six positions cover backwashing, draining, filtration, stopping the flow and winter storage, so routine maintenance doesn't mean opening the housing
- UV-C lamp breaks down green floating algae and neutralises germs before the water reaches the filter bed
- Layered media combines mechanical, chemical and biological filtration in a single pass
- Pressure-rated housing lets you site the filter above pond level and still gravity-feed a waterfall, fountain or stream afterwards
- Compact housing designed to be straightforward to install and clean
- Can take an optional pond heater accessory if you want to manage water temperature through colder months
Choosing your size
Both models are built for different pond volumes rather than differing in how they work, using the same valve and filtration set-up. See the sizing guidance below for which litre range each one covers, and the variant notes for current availability.
Using the multi-position valve
Most day-to-day and seasonal jobs are handled by turning the valve rather than dismantling anything. Filtration is the normal running position. Backwash flushes debris out from under the grate if the flow has slowed, using a reverse flow through the media, and this position is for clearing the filter itself rather than for pond water. Pond drain empties the pond or clears the valve, using a hose connected to the waste outflow. Stop shuts off flow through the filter while you service the pump, without draining the housing. Bypass routes water around the media, which is what you'd use while dosing the pond with medication, though it needs rinsing once the treatment period ends. Winter releases pressure from the valve mechanism for safe off-season storage. Switch the pump off before moving the valve between positions.
